River Sharada Touches the Old Bridge (04-11-2012)
As on 04-11-2012 :
Anakapalli, eight villages, including Kasipalem, Pedapadu, Suchikonda, Ganaparti, Nellipaka, Kumarapuram and Yadagiripalem of Munagapaka mandal were under water and about 10,000 residents were suffering as communication network, power, drinking water supply and road links were completely cut off due to Sharada Flood.
The naval helicopters from Eastern Naval Command (ENC) stepped up rescue and relief operations on the second day on Monday( 04-11-2012 ) with 28 teams comprising nearly 60 divers engaged in the affected districts of Visakhapatnam and West Godavari. The rescue operations in Nidadavole, Narsingapatnam and Padmanabham have been completed and the teams were re-deployed in other affected areas. Around 20 people from Chodavaram, 60 from Padmanabham and 25 from Yelamanchili were rescued and efforts were on to move all the marooned persons to safety. Nearly 2,100 people were rescued till Monday (04-11-2012) afternoon with over 1,300 being evacuated from Anakapalli and Munagapaka regions alone.
